LIFE IN THE DESERT

I have been here in the desert for three weeks now. It has been hot, warm, windy, cool and somedays rainy. I always love being here since it is so different from Calgary. I walk 3-4 miles everyday in a great park that has tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, baseball diamonds, a library, amphitheatre, barbeque areas and best of all turtles. We call it Turtle Park but it is the Civic Park. I always find time to shop while I am here and hit the outlet stores at least twice each time I am down.

Today, Dave and I went to the annual golf cart parade on El Paseo. (carts are legal on the road here and people drive them around town.) The theme was, of course, halloween so there were lots of spooky carts and lots of surgically enhanced middle aged women dressed up like naughty witches and vampires in the parade. (there are tons of plastic surgeons who offer 2 for 1 breast augmentations and it appears that too many people are taking advantage of the sale. Also lots of fake nails and plasticy teeth here along with the odd 70 year old recovering from having their face tightened and lifted. Gotta love the fake world of California! I feel very plain Jane and sometimes down right ugly. ) Here for another week and then home.
