STREET FAIR

I have to blog about this evening. Every Thursday in Palm Springs there is a street fair where they shut down about a mile of downtown Palm Springs and open it up to venders and booths. We go at least once every time we are down, although we don't buy anything other than a bite to eat. It is always an interesting place to people watch. Palm Springs is especially "gay friendly" so we are interested in seeing those that choose an "alternative" lifestyle, and tonight there were plenty of gay couples, but what really caught my attention, and everyone at the fair, was a woman that would have been close to my age (somewhere slightly older than 29 - hard to tell with her). She was with a very greasy middle aged man wearing a wife beater and had a stringy, ratty ponytail hanging off of his greasy, balding head. But what I couldn't believe, other than her poor choice of companions, was her poor choice of wardrobe! She had platinum (polite word for bleached, damaged, frizzed) blonde hair teased up high, six inch platform sandals, a short, short (really, really short) zebra print strip of fabric for a skirt that didn't quite hide that she was wearing thong undies) and then to top it off (barely a top) she wore an extremely sheer, thin, gauzy, very see through white t-shirt that was tied up high which stretched and pulled across her enormous, braless (brassiereless for those older readers) ginormous, surgically implanted artificial 58 GGGG chest! It was shocking. What I couldn't understand is why she choose to wear that to a public place and why she didn't seem to mind the down right gawking, whispering, laughing and tsk tsking disapproval of everyone that she and her boyfriend walked past. It was an amazing experience to walk behind her a few steps and see the looks and hear the talk that she generated. Peopel looked at her with such contempt and disrespect. Made me wonder what her story was (since everyone has a story that defines them) and what brought her to that point. Why does she need that attention - although negative? What love is she missing? Why doesn't she see herself as she really is and see how others see her?
I am glad when I see women who respect their bodies and are modest and understand their divinity. Being a confident, modest, moral, virtuous women is true GIRL POWER!
