EIGHT DAYS

I have been in the desert eight days now and have kept busy doing projects and stuff. I have also taken up running, which I haven't done since I was forced to do it in gym in high school. I have always found an excuse for not running i.e.. I was asthmatic (I'm not, but my dad is so it counts), it's not good for your joints, I don't have good runners, it's boring... I have run every morning I have been here and look forward to doing it. I haven't seen any changes from my week of being an athlete, but I don't hurt and I actually like it. My first day running, I felt and looked like a dinosaur with heavy legs and no stamina, but I am improving. There is nothing like the skinny women of California that look so good, to motivate a person. (And yes, I look exactly like this picture of the runner. Feet high, stomach tight and toned, legs strong and smile on my face)

I also have kept busy each night sewing. I hauled a sewing machine down here thinking I would be so productive and get a lot of projects done, but so far, I have put in about 20 hours, broken 10 needles and have now thrown out a blue jean rag quilt that I was working on. It wasn't fun, nor was it working out, so I tossed it. I usually have success with sewing projects, so this was a surprise. I guess I can always try again.

Weather has been great. Today, 80 F. Tomorrow Dave arrives. Yeah for company!
(another pic of me running. I grew my hair out and lost 20 lbs and 20 years. A vacation really changes a person)
