ANIMALS OF THE DESERT

No trip to the desert is complete without seeing a lizard. Meg and the kids have caught them in the past and tried to make pets out of them. They prefer the wild

Last night I fell asleep to the sound of hoot owls outside my window. That is something I don't hear in Calgary.

In my favourite park (maybe in all the world ) is a pond full of turtles. Nearly nightly, while the grandkids are here, we go to "Turtle Park". The park is full of families picnicking, kids playing baseball, swimming and playing sand volleyball. The pond is also full of ducks and geese (we see that lots in Canada).
Ants are a constant problem here and steps must be taken to avoid an ant infestation. Anything sticky or sweet that is left out will be covered with ants by morning. They like cookies almost as much as I do.

Every morning on my walk I see the cutest rabbits. They are bunny sized and unlike our big jack rabbits at home. They have many predators so they don't over populate.
I wonder if tonight I may hear another hoot owl outside my window?
