Those that know me well, know that I love to redo, repaint and fix things up. I always have a project (or several) in the garage on the go and a sewing project I am working on. I am not content with things as they are, and feel energized by change. I am unable to change too many things, so I satisfy my need by rearranging, collecting, buying stuff, and repainting; and sometimes things get ahead of me.
Dave and I are at a point in our lives where we will be making changes. We are approaching the empty nest syndrome (although I have two eligible bachelors living under my roof) and we may be making a move in the future. I am starting the process of cleaning out now so I don't have so much to do when it actually happens. Yesterday, I cleaned out my stash of magazines - ripped out the pages I was interested in and tossed the rest. I am sure that I threw out a couple of hundred dollars worth of magazines, but I feel liberated. Today's project was the linen closet and Hillary's bathroom. Do I really need flannelette sheets when no one likes them on their bed? And do I need so many sets of sheets? Maybe just one extra set per bed. It felt good to clean out the excess. And Hill's bathroom is not bulging with old makeup and hair products anymore. My plan is to thoroughly clean one area of the house each day so that when the time comes that we make a move, I will be ready to go and not have an overwhelming task ahead of me. I will soon be helping my mother-in-law clean out her home after living in it for 48 years without a thorough clean out. I don't want my kids to be cleaning me out and saying "what was she thinking? PACK RAT!"
that must be hard work to dejunk every room! I dejunked some old ratty clothes the other day that were getting too thin, bally, and just plain ugly. It felt good, now it's time to go shopping!
